Industrial Vacuum Cleaners for Vessels
For shipowners, vessel operators, crews and ship chandlersIndustrial and professional vacuum cleaners for dust, solid debris and liquids on board commercial vessels. Explore electric, compressed-air and ATEX models for shipboard cleaning and maintenance, with IMPA references for selected products.
Shipboard Cleaning and Maintenance
Corridors, cabins, decks, engine rooms, and technical spaces require different solutions. Depureco industrial vacuums help crews collect dust, solid debris, and liquids, with models selected according to available space, the materials to be collected, and the available power or compressed-air supply.
Humidity, salt-laden air, and frequent handling make durability, compact dimensions, and suitable construction materials essential. Configurations with stainless steel parts are available for several models.
- Operational efficiency: faster cleaning operations and fewer interruptions for debris collection
- Residue collection: vacuuming dust, solid debris, and liquids in technical and service areas
- Choice of configuration: electric or compressed-air models depending on the available utilities.
- Combustible dust handling: vacuum cleaners with ATEX marking appropriate to the hazardous-area classification and the material being collected.
- Shipboard hygiene and maintenance: cabins, laundries, and accommodation spaces kept clean with compact, easy-to-carry vacuum cleaners.

Professional vacuum cleaners for cabins and accommodation spaces
Cabins, corridors, laundries, and the bridge require lightweight vacuum cleaners that can be carried by hand up stairs and through narrow passages. X PRO 1500 and X PRO 3000 are professional wet-and-dry vacuum cleaners with stainless-steel collection containers and standard accessory kits.
Industrial vacuum cleaners for dust and solids
Engine rooms and decks require the removal of dust, metal chips, and other solid debris. XM 20 and M65/100 are steel-bodied, single-phase industrial vacuum cleaners with Class M filtration and bypass motors operated by independent switches.

Compressed Air Industrial Vacuum Cleaners
A compressed air vacuum cleaner generates suction through a Venturi system, without an electric motor or moving parts in the suction unit. It connects to the ship’s compressed-air supply where electricity is unavailable or unsuitable. XM 20 AIR JC and AC 100 are suitable for collecting dust and solid debris; for liquids and spills in the engine room, WD AIR allows collected liquids to be discharged through a ball valve at the bottom of the container.
ATEX Pneumatic Industrial Vacuum Cleaners
When collecting combustible dust or working in a hazardous area, the vacuum cleaner must have ATEX marking appropriate to the zone classification and the materials being collected. AC 100 1/2D Z20/21 is designed for combustible dust applications in Zone 21; AC 100 ATEX 3G-3D Z2-22 is intended for Zone 2 (gas) and Zone 22 (dust), subject to each model’s ATEX marking and conditions of use.
Electric vs. Compressed Air Vacuums: Which Is Right for Your Vessel?
The choice depends on the power supply available at the work location, the materials to be vacuumed, and any ATEX classification of the area. Electric models require a compatible power socket; pneumatic models connect to the ship’s compressed air line.
| Criterion | Single-phase electric | Compressed air |
|---|---|---|
| Power supply | 230 V models; verify voltage and frequency compatibility with the ship’s electrical supply | Compressed air, typically 6–8 bar; verify flow rate required by the model |
| Vacuum system | By-pass electric motors | Venturi system, without an electric motor |
| Use in ATEX areas | Only models with ATEX marking suitable for the zone | Only models with ATEX marking suitable for the zone, such as AC 100 1/2D Z20/21 |
| Featured models | X PRO 1500, X PRO 3000, XM 20, M65/100 | XM 20 AIR JC, AC 100, AC 100 ATEX 1/2D Z20/21, AC 100 ATEX 3G-3D Z2-22, WD AIR |
Caution: compressed air supply does not automatically make a vacuum cleaner suitable for ATEX areas. Always verify the model marking and the zone classification.
Materials, Safety and Marine Operating Conditions
The choice of vacuum cleaner must take into account potential exposure to moisture and salt-laden air, the materials to be collected, the availability of compressed air, and the need to transport the machine between different environments.
In hazardous areas, a compressed-air vacuum cleaner is not automatically ATEX compliant: its marking, certification, and configuration must be checked against the applicable zone classification and the materials to be collected.
